A bill for an act
relating to economic development; appropriating money for a grant to the Iron
Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $4,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of the
Department of Employment and Economic Development for a grant to the Iron Range
Resources and Rehabilitation Board for the purpose of reimbursing biomass facilities
located in Minnesota for up to $32.50 per cord of roundwood product purchased from
established loggers.

new text begin The following additional conditions must be met by the biomass facility:

new text begin (1) reimbursable cords must be delivered to a site agreed to by the facility and the
agency for power generation or cogeneration purposes;

new text begin (2) the facility may be reimbursed only for the first 1,000 reimbursable cords
purchased from each eligible logger; and

new text begin (3) no reimbursement may be made for cords purchased after June 30, 2007, or for a
price less than $62.50 per cord.
