  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; authorizing the Wright 
  1.3             county board to act unanimously to change the name of 
  1.4             a body of water in Wright county without the approval 
  1.5             of the commissioner of natural resources. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [WRIGHT COUNTY; SPECIAL PROCEDURE FOR NAME 
  1.8   CHANGE FOR BODY OF WATER.] 
  1.9      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 83A.04, and the 
  1.10  restriction in Minnesota Statutes, section 83A.05, subdivision 
  1.11  1, regarding changing the name of a body of water if the name 
  1.12  has existed for at least 40 years, the Wright county board may 
  1.13  act on a petition to change the name of a body of water in 
  1.14  Wright county under the remaining provisions of Minnesota 
  1.15  Statutes, sections 83A.05 to 83A.07.  For a name change under 
  1.16  this section to be effective, the county board must approve it 
  1.17  unanimously.  A name change authorized by this section does not 
  1.18  require the approval of the commissioner of natural resources 
  1.19  and must be recognized by the commissioner under Minnesota 
  1.20  Statutes, section 83A.02.  This section expires January 1, 2002. 
  1.21     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.22     Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section 645.023, 
  1.23  subdivision 1, paragraph (a), section 1 is effective the day 
  1.24  following final enactment.
