  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to motor vehicles; repealing motor vehicle 
  1.3             air pollution emissions testing program; repealing 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 1998, sections 116.60; 116.61; 
  1.5             116.62; 116.63; 116.64; and 116.65. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION PROGRAM CONTRACT.] 
  1.8      The pollution control agency shall not enter into a 
  1.9   contract relating to public inspection stations or related 
  1.10  services or functions pertaining to the motor vehicle inspection 
  1.11  program under Minnesota Statutes, section 116.62, subdivision 3, 
  1.12  paragraph (b). 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [TRANSFER OF FUNDS.] 
  1.14     Any amounts remaining in the vehicle emission inspection 
  1.15  account after payment of allowable program costs and 
  1.16  administrative costs are transferred to the general fund. 
  1.17     Sec. 3.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.18     Minnesota Statutes 1998, sections 116.60; 116.61; 116.62; 
  1.19  116.63; 116.64; and 116.65, are repealed. 
  1.20     Sec. 4.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.21     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.  
  1.22  Sections 2 and 3 are effective July 1, 1999.
