relating to natural resources; providing for lake and river name changes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin LAKE AND RIVER NAME CHANGES.

new text begin According to the powers granted under Minnesota Statutes, section 83A.02, the
commissioner of natural resources shall change the names of certain lakes and rivers
as follows:

new text begin (1) Rum River shall be changed to Wakan River;
new text end

new text begin (2) West Branch Rum River shall be changed to West Branch Wakan River;
new text end

new text begin (3) Redskin Lake in Lake County shall be changed to Native American Lake;
new text end

new text begin (4) Cut Foot Sioux Lake in Itasca County shall be changed to Cut Foot Dakota Lake;
new text end

new text begin (5) Little Cut Foot Sioux Lake in Itasca County shall be changed to Little Cut Foot
Dakota Lake;

new text begin (6) Sioux River shall be changed to Dakota River;
new text end

new text begin (7) Sioux Lake in Itasca and Meeker Counties shall be changed to Dakota Lake;

new text begin (8) Little Sioux River shall be changed to Little Dakota River;
new text end

new text begin (9) Indian Sioux River shall be changed to Native Dakota River;

new text begin (10) Savage Lake in Ramsey County shall be changed to Gathering Natives Lake;

new text begin (11) East Savage Lake in Ramsey County shall be changed to East Gathering
Natives Lake;

new text begin (12) Snake River shall be changed to Mdewakanton River;
new text end

new text begin (13) Devil Track Lake in Cook County shall be changed to Spirit Track Lake; and

new text begin (14) Devil Track River shall be changed to Spirit Track River.
