A bill for an act
relating to public safety; providing for a fusion center to assist with detection,
prevention, and investigation of, and response to, criminal and terrorist activities;
proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 299C.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin (a) As used in this section, "fusion center" means the government entity assigned to
collect, integrate, evaluate, analyze, and disseminate data and information.

new text begin (b) The superintendent may operate a fusion center. By cooperating with state and
local government entities, federal agencies, fusion centers in other states, and the part of
the private sector that provides critical infrastructure as that term is defined in United
States Code, title 42, section 5195C(e), the fusion center will assist in the detection,
prevention, and investigation of, and response to, criminal and terrorist activities.
