  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to Ramsey county; providing for certification 
  1.3             of eligibility for a position under county rules; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 383A.291, by 
  1.5             adding a subdivision; repealing Minnesota Statutes 
  1.6             1996, section 383A.291, subdivisions 1, 2, 3, and 4.  
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 383A.291, is 
  1.9   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 1a.  [UNDER COUNTY RULES.] Upon request of the 
  1.11  appointing authority, the personnel director shall certify 
  1.12  eligibles in accordance with rules adopted under section 
  1.13  383A.284, subdivision 1. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.15     Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 383A.291, subdivisions 1, 
  1.16  2, 3, and 4, are repealed. 
  1.17     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE; LOCAL APPROVAL AND STATE FILING 
  1.18  REQUIRED.] 
  1.19     This act is effective the day after the chief clerical 
  1.20  officer of Ramsey county complies with Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.21  section 645.021, subdivision 3.
