A bill for an act
relating to transportation; establishing requirements for managed lanes on portion
of signed Interstate Highway 494; amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, sections
160.02, by adding a subdivision; 160.93, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 160.02, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin "Managed lane" means a priced dynamic shoulder lane,
high-occupancy vehicle lane, high-occupancy toll lane, or highway lane that is part of a
toll facility, as defined in section 160.84, subdivision 9.

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 160.93, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin Continuous system on Interstate 494. new text end

new text begin (a) For purposes of this
subdivision, "western I-494 segment" means that portion of Route No. 393, signed as
Interstate Highway 494 on the effective date of this section, from the interchange with
Route No. 392, signed as Interstate Highway 94 on the effective date of this section, in the
city of Maple Grove, to the interchange with Route No. 390, signed as Interstate Highway
35E on the effective date of this section.

new text begin (b) The commissioner may not construct, convert, or establish a managed lane
on any portion of the western I-494 segment, unless the managed lane is constructed,
converted, or established for the entire western I-494 segment.
