  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the legislature; reducing its size; 
  1.3             amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 2.021.  
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 2.021, is 
  1.6   amended to read: 
  1.7      2.021 [NUMBER OF MEMBERS.] 
  1.8      For each legislature, until a new apportionment shall have 
  1.9   been made, the senate is composed of 67 50 members and the house 
  1.10  of representatives is composed of 134 100 members. 
  1.11     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.12     Section 1 is effective for legislatures elected in 2002 and 
  1.13  thereafter.
