  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; modifying the state aid for 
  1.3             school district tax abatements; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1994, section 124A.032. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 124A.032, is 
  1.7   amended to read: 
  1.8      124A.032 [ANNUAL FOUNDATION OR GENERAL EDUCATION AID 
  1.9   APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.10     There is annually appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.11  department of education the amount necessary for general 
  1.12  education aid under section 124A.23 and abatement aid under 
  1.13  section 124.214, subdivision 2.  For general education aid this 
  1.14  amount shall be reduced by the amount of any money specifically 
  1.15  appropriated for the same purpose in any year from any state 
  1.16  fund.  For abatement aid, if the amount of aid specifically 
  1.17  appropriated for the same purpose is less than the amount of the 
  1.18  aid entitlement created under this section, then the difference 
  1.19  shall be recaptured in the fiscal year following the payment of 
  1.20  the abatement aid. 
  1.21     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.22     Section 1 is effective July 1, 1995, and applies for 
  1.23  1995-1996 and later school years.
