  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to civil actions; providing immunity for good 
  1.3             faith reports to or requests for assistance from law 
  1.4             enforcement; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes, chapter 604A. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [604A.34] [REPORTS OR ASSISTANCE REQUESTS TO 
  1.8   LAW ENFORCEMENT.] 
  1.9      An individual who in good faith seeks assistance from, or 
  1.10  reports apparent unlawful conduct to, law enforcement is not 
  1.11  liable for civil damages as a result of that action.  If an 
  1.12  individual prevails in a civil action from which the individual 
  1.13  has been granted immunity by this section, the court shall award 
  1.14  the individual reasonable attorney fees and costs.  This section 
  1.15  does not exempt individuals from their professional obligations 
  1.16  of confidentiality.
