A bill for an act
relating to liquor; creating labeling requirements for 3.2 percent malt liquor;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 340A.301, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 340A.301, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin 3.2 percent malt liquor; label. new text end

new text begin 3.2 percent malt liquor, as defined under
section 340A.101, subdivision 19, may be sold with a label that states "3.2% malt liquor"
or equivalent, on the side of the can or bottle, and does not require a similar disclosure on
the can top. The commissioner shall establish standards to implement this requirement.

new text begin This section is effective on July 1, 2017, and applies to all cans
or bottles sold after that date.
