  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state government; prohibiting the 
  1.3             assignment of a state vehicle to the governor's staff, 
  1.4             commissioners, and deputy and assistant commissioners; 
  1.5             amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 16B.55, 
  1.6             subdivision 2. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 16B.55, 
  1.9   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 2.  [PROHIBITED USES.] A state vehicle may be used 
  1.11  only for authorized state business.  A state vehicle may not be 
  1.12  used for transportation to or from the residence of a state 
  1.13  employee, except as provided in subdivision 3.  A state vehicle 
  1.14  may not be assigned for the exclusive use of the governor's 
  1.15  staff, a commissioner, or a deputy or assistant commissioner 
  1.16  within the metropolitan area. 
  1.17     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.18  following final enactment.
