  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; authorizing state aid to pay 
  1.3             for a fiscal year 1998 levy adjustment resulting from 
  1.4             the repeal of the K-12 appropriations caps; 
  1.5             appropriating money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.8      $2,034,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 1998 from the 
  1.9   general fund to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.10  learning to pay each school district an amount equal to the 
  1.11  positive levy adjustment to the fiscal year 1998 referendum levy 
  1.12  caused by the change in the general education basic formula 
  1.13  allowance under Minnesota Statutes, section 124A.22, subdivision 
  1.14  2, and the pupil unit weightings under Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.15  section 124.17, due to the repeal of the appropriations caps.
