A bill for an act
relating to arts and culture; appropriating money for Somali arts and cultural
heritage programs.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; FANKA ARTS PROGRAMS.

new text begin $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2020 and $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2021 are appropriated from
the arts and cultural heritage fund to the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Humanities
Center for a grant to Ka Joog for statewide Somali-based collaborative programs for arts
and cultural heritage. The funding must be used for Fanka programs to provide arts education
and workshops, mentor programs, and community presentations and community engagement
events throughout Minnesota.
