A bill for an act
relating to agriculture; modifying the classification of horses as livestock;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 17.459, subdivision 2; repealing
Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 17.459, subdivision 3.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 17.459, subdivision 2, is amended to read:


Subd. 2.

Agricultural pursuit.

Raising horses and other equines is agricultural
production and an agricultural pursuit.new text begin Horse breeding farms, horse training farms, horse
boarding farms, or farms combining those purposes, are an intensive agricultural use that
may be accomplished on limited acreage. These intensive agricultural uses are necessary
for horses in order to control the feeding, safety, and overall condition of the animals.
