A bill for an act
relating to waters; appropriating money for local grants for impaired waters.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; LOCAL GRANTS FOR IMPAIRED WATERS.

new text begin $300,000 in fiscal year 2022 is appropriated from the general fund to the Board of Water
and Soil Resources to provide grants for projects in equal amounts to Blue Earth County
for two projects, to Pipestone County for one project, to Rice County for one project, and
to the city of Fergus Falls for one project to evaluate impaired lakes and waters through
water quality testing technology, such as wireless testing probe buoys and portable testing
devices. Projects may also include new nonchemical treatment technologies. Grants are for
projects that increase the recreational user days on impaired lakes and waters by improving
water quality, dissolved oxygen, and related parameters.
