A bill for an act
relating to state government; prohibiting a legislator from being employed by or
receiving compensation from certain types of businesses; proposing coding for
new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 3.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin (a) A sitting member of the legislature is prohibited from accepting employment with
or otherwise receiving compensation for services performed from a business whose primary
activities involve lobbying, government relations or government affairs, or other public
policy advocacy or consulting. This prohibition applies regardless of the location where the
work of the business is substantially conducted or its clients are located.
