A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money for a domestic abuse prevention
program.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin DOMESTIC ABUSE PREVENTION GRANTS.

new text begin $786,000 in fiscal year 2018 and $786,000 in fiscal year 2019 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of public safety for a grant to a domestic abuse prevention
program that provides interdisciplinary, trauma-informed treatment and evidence-informed
intervention for the whole family affected by domestic violence. The grantee will offer a
combination of services for perpetrators of domestic violence including individual and group
therapy and short- and long-term case management services to ensure stabilization and
increase in their overall mental health functioning and well-being.
