A bill for an act
 relating to economic development; appropriating money for a grant to Unidos MN
Education Fund and the New Justice Project MN.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; UNIDOS MN EDUCATION FUND AND THE NEW
JUSTICE PROJECT MN.

new text begin $1,750,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for a grant to Unidos MN Education Fund and
the New Justice Project MN to address employment and economic disparities for people of
color, immigrant communities, and low-income unemployed or underemployed individuals.
Money must be used to support preapprenticeship and workforce training, career
development, worker rights training, employment placement and entrepreneurship support,
related support services, and the development of transferable skills in high-demand fields
related to construction, clean energy, and energy efficiency. Of this amount, 50 percent is
for a grant to Unidos MN Education Fund and 50 percent is for a grant to the New Justice
Project MN.
