A bill for an act
relating to transportation; appropriating money for transit service in marked
Trunk Highway 55 corridor.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin GRANT APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $250,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of transportation
for a grant to the Highway 55 Corridor Coalition to arrange for additional transit service
along the marked Trunk Highway 55 corridor extending from the city of Buffalo to the
city of Minneapolis, between May 1, 2006, and November 30, 2006, in order to mitigate
any traffic impact from closure of marked Trunk Highway 241. The commissioner of
transportation shall ensure that the amount of this grant does not exceed the total cost of
providing additional transit service, less any revenues, including but not limited to farebox
revenues, from providing additional transit service. This appropriation is available until
January 1, 2007.
