A bill for an act
relating to higher education; appropriating money to the University of Minnesota
to increase campus sustainability.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $75,000,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the Board of
Regents of the University of Minnesota to advance campus sustainability. This is a onetime
appropriation. Of this amount:

new text begin (1) $5,000,000 is for the development of campus sustainability and utility master plans
systemwide;
new text end

new text begin (2) $2,500,000 is for implementation of on-campus solar electricity generation;
new text end

new text begin (3) $2,500,000 is for accelerated conversion of the university's fleet vehicles to electric
vehicles; and
new text end

new text begin (4) $65,000,000 is for conversion of campus energy systems from steam to hot water
and for the installation of initial geothermal energy systems.
