relating to taxation; local lodging; providing an exemption from the Ely Area
Lodging Tax District.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin ELY AREA LODGING TAX DISTRICT; EXEMPTION.

new text begin Any tax adopted under Minnesota Statutes, section 469.190, by the Ely Area Lodging
Tax District does not apply to an organization that serves veterans and that qualifies as a
charitable nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

new text begin This section is effective the day after the Ely Area Lodging Tax
District and its chief clerical officer comply with Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021,
subdivisions 2 and 3.
