A bill for an act
relating to local government; providing that entities created under the joint
powers act are subject to open meeting law; amending Minnesota Statutes 2006,
section 471.59, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 471.59, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin A governmental unit or joint board
participating in the joint or cooperative exercise of powers under this section is a public
body for purposes of chapter 13D, and subject to its requirements in the same manner and
to the same extent as the governmental units that are parties to the agreement.
