A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for a grant to Pillsbury United
Communities for capital improvements related to the Pillsbury House Theatre.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; PILLSBURY UNITED COMMUNITIES.

new text begin (a) $27,800,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to Pillsbury United
Communities, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, for capital improvements as provided in
this section.

new text begin (b) $1,500,000 of this appropriation is to acquire property, predesign, design, construct,
renovate, furnish, and equip a studio technical arts campus for workforce development that
supports youth who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color in gaining skills related to
theatre technology, design, and media.

new text begin (c) $26,300,000 of this appropriation is to predesign, design, construct, renovate, furnish,
and equip a renovation and expansion of the Pillsbury House Theatre to create interactive
and accessible space to be made available to and utilized by visitors, partner organizations,
artists, and the greater community to exchange ideas and build relationships.

abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642.
