A bill for an act
relating to education finance; appropriating money for a study comparing financing
of charter schools and school districts; requiring a report.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin (a) $....... in fiscal year 2019 is appropriated from the general fund to the Office of the
Legislative Auditor to fund a study of the financing of chartered public schools in comparison
to traditional public schools and the scope and impact on educational opportunities for
students that result from differences in funding.

new text begin (b) The Office of the Legislative Auditor shall deliver the study findings and
recommendations to the chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative committees
with primary jurisdiction over kindergarten through grade 12 education no later than January
30, 2019.
