A bill for an act
relating to health insurance; seeking federal waiver to allow individual consumers
the opportunity to obtain coverage through the state employees group insurance
plan (SEGIP).

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin OPTION FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSUMERS TO OBTAIN COVERAGE
THROUGH THE STATE EMPLOYEES GROUP INSURANCE PLAN (SEGIP).

new text begin The commissioners of management and budget and commerce shall seek all
federal approvals and waivers necessary to allow individual consumers, who are not
state employees, the option of obtaining qualified health plan coverage through the state
employees group insurance plan (SEGIP) through the Minnesota health plan market
(MNsure) and receive any applicable advanced premium tax credits and cost-sharing
reductions. The commissioner of management and budget shall notify the MNsure
Legislative Oversight Committee of any federal action related to this section.
