A bill for an act
relating to commerce; modifying the appropriation for unclaimed property
compliance efforts; amending Laws 2017, chapter 94, article 1, section 7,
subdivision 4.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Laws 2017, chapter 94, article 1, section 7, subdivision 4, is amended to read:

Subd. 4. Administrative Services

(a) $384,000 each year is for additional
compliance efforts with unclaimed property. new text begin
Beginning in fiscal year 2019, at least 50
percent of these funds shall be used for efforts
to return property to its owners. new text end The
commissioner may issue contracts for these
services.

(b) $100,000 each year is for the support of
broadband development.

(c) $33,000 each year is for rulemaking and
administration under Minnesota Statutes,
section 80A.461.
