A bill for an act
relating to crime prevention and public safety;
appropriating money for bracelets with tracking
devices to monitor sex offenders.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $500,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of corrections for the fiscal year ending June 30,
2006, for the acquisition of bracelets equipped with tracking
devices designed to track and monitor the movement and location
of criminal offenders. The commissioner shall use the bracelets
to monitor high-risk sex offenders who are on supervised release
or probation to help ensure that the offenders do not violate
conditions of their release or probation.
