  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; increasing state aid for early 
  1.3             childhood family education; appropriating money; 
  1.4             amending Minnesota Statutes 1999 Supplement, section 
  1.5             124D.135, subdivision 1; Laws 1999, chapter 205, 
  1.6             article 1, section 71, subdivision 3. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1999 Supplement, section 
  1.9   124D.135, subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subdivision 1.  [REVENUE.] The revenue for early childhood 
  1.11  family education programs for a school district equals $113.50 
  1.12  for fiscal years year 2000 and 2001 and $120 for 2002 fiscal 
  1.13  year 2001 and later fiscal years times the greater of: 
  1.14     (1) 150; or 
  1.15     (2) the number of people under five years of age residing 
  1.16  in the district on October 1 of the previous school year. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  Laws 1999, chapter 205, article 1, section 71, 
  1.18  subdivision 3, is amended to read: 
  1.19     Subd. 3.  [EARLY CHILDHOOD FAMILY EDUCATION AID.] For early 
  1.20  childhood family education aid according to Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.21  section 124D.135: 
  1.22       $20,485,000    .....     2000 
  1.23       $19,420,000 $20,871,700   .....     2001
  1.24     The 2000 appropriation includes $1,390,000 for 1999 and 
  1.25  $19,095,000 for 2000.  
  1.26     The 2001 appropriation includes $2,122,000 for 2000 and 
  2.1   $17,298,000 $18,749,700 for 2001.  
  2.2      Any balance in the first year does not cancel but is 
  2.3   available in the second year.
