relating to homelessness; requiring certain data for the Homeless Management
Information System.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin HOMELESS MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM.

new text begin Effective July 1, 2008, organizations that provide homeless services that are required
to provide data to the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) are required to
only provide the universal data elements as specified in the Federal Register, volume 68,
pages 43430 and 43438 to 43439, proposed July 22, 2003. The organizations have the
option to provide more data, however state funds cannot be withheld if the organization
elects to only provide the universal data elements through the HMIS system.
