  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education finance; fully funding the three 
  1.3             additional days of student instruction approved by the 
  1.4             1997 Legislature; appropriating money; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1999 Supplement, section 126C.10, 
  1.6             subdivision 2; repealing Laws 1999, chapter 241, 
  1.7             article 1, section 64. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1999 Supplement, section 
  1.10  126C.10, subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.11     Subd. 2.  [BASIC REVENUE.] The basic revenue for each 
  1.12  district equals the formula allowance times the resident 
  1.13  adjusted marginal cost pupil units for the school year.  The 
  1.14  formula allowance for fiscal year 1998 is $3,581.  The formula 
  1.15  allowance for fiscal year 1999 is $3,530.  The formula allowance 
  1.16  for fiscal year 2000 is $3,740.  The formula allowance for 
  1.17  fiscal year 2001 and subsequent fiscal years is $3,875 $3,992. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.19     $59,239,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2001 from the 
  1.20  general fund to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.21  learning for payment of general education aid under section 1 to 
  1.22  compensate school districts for the additional expenses 
  1.23  associated with the lengthening of the school year by three 
  1.24  additional days.  This appropriation is in addition to any other 
  1.25  appropriation for this purpose. 
  1.26     Sec. 3.  [REPEALER.] 
  2.1      Laws 1999, chapter 241, article 1, section 64, is repealed. 
  2.2      Sec. 4.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  2.3      Section 3 is effective the day following final enactment.
