  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; authorizing a levy for school 
  1.3             crossing guards; amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, 
  1.4             section 124.912, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 124.912, is 
  1.7   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 10.  [SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS LEVY.] Each year, a 
  1.9   school district may levy an amount for the salaries of school 
  1.10  crossing guards.  The levy may not exceed the actual cost of the 
  1.11  salaries of the school crossing guards.
