  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to property taxation; appropriating money for 
  1.3             a grant to produce materials to educate citizens about 
  1.4             the working of the Minnesota property tax system. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $50,000 is appropriated from the general fund for fiscal 
  1.8   year 1999 to the commissioner of revenue to make a grant to the 
  1.9   research foundation of the association of Minnesota counties.  
  1.10  The grant must be used to produce training videos and supporting 
  1.11  materials to educate the general public about how the Minnesota 
  1.12  property tax system works.  The grant must include as a 
  1.13  condition that copies of the videos and materials will be made 
  1.14  available at no cost to each Minnesota county government for 
  1.15  distribution to local television and other outlets and to the 
  1.16  Minnesota extension services.  Copies must also be provided at 
  1.17  no cost to the department of revenue.
