  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to appropriations; appropriating money to 
  1.3             coordinate and integrate county services in the 
  1.4             Cimarron community. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      (a) $14,900 is appropriated from the general fund to 
  1.8   Washington county to coordinate and integrate county services to 
  1.9   strengthen the safety, health, and quality of life for children 
  1.10  and families living in the Cimarron community. 
  1.11     (b) The issues to be addressed with this appropriation 
  1.12  include the high rate of domestic violence, crime, poor 
  1.13  parenting, child and youth vandalism, lack of recreational and 
  1.14  educational activities in the park, and truancy. 
  1.15     (c) In particular, the county and its departments must join 
  1.16  forces with the Youth Service Bureau, community education, 
  1.17  Campfire, and common health organizations to expand the 
  1.18  opportunities for youth during the summer of 1998. 
  1.19     (d) The project must be a collaborative effort of the 
  1.20  following departments of Washington county:  health, 
  1.21  environment, and land management; court services, community 
  1.22  services, and law enforcement; together with the Minnesota 
  1.23  extension service of the University of Minnesota in Washington 
  1.24  county; Chateau properties; the Cimarron community coalition; 
  1.25  and the Washington county sheriff's office.
