A bill for an act
relating to human services; modifying household pets allowed in family day care
homes; amending Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 245A.14, by adding a
subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 245A.14, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin Household pets; family child care. new text end

new text begin A reptile commonly kept as a household
pet that is maintained in good health, is not poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous,
and meets all other applicable requirements under state and local laws, rules, and ordinances
shall be permitted as a pet housed within the residence of a family day care program, provided
that the children attending the day care program do not handle the reptile.
