A bill for an act
relating to health; requiring the commissioner of health to provide grants for the
purchase and distribution of prescription drug deactivation and disposal products;
appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; PRESCRIPTION DRUG DEACTIVATION AND
DISPOSAL.

new text begin $1,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of health, for the
biennium ending June 30, 2019, to provide grants to pharmacists and other prescription
drug dispensers, health care providers, local law enforcement, local health and human
services departments, and other entities to purchase omnidegradeable, at-home prescription
drug deactivation and disposal products to assist individuals in the disposal of prescription
drugs in a safe, environmentally sound manner. Grant recipients must provide these
deactivation and disposal products free of charge to members of the public.
