  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to human services; providing a grant for 
  1.3             primary support to implement Indian child welfare 
  1.4             programs; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; PRIMARY SUPPORT TO IMPLEMENT 
  1.7   THE INDIAN FAMILY PRESERVATION ACT.] 
  1.8      $100,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.9   commissioner of human services for the fiscal year ending June 
  1.10  30, 1998, to provide a grant under Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.11  257.3571, subdivision 1, to an Indian organization licensed as 
  1.12  an adoption agency.  The grant must be used to provide primary 
  1.13  support for implementation of the Minnesota Indian Family 
  1.14  Preservation Act and compliance with the Indian Child Welfare 
  1.15  Act.  This appropriation is available until June 30, 1999. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
