A bill for an act
relating to human services; directing the commissioners of human services and
employment and economic development to review certain data related to federal
SNAP waivers.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin (a) The commissioner of human services, in consultation with the commissioner of
employment and economic development, shall review unemployment data for all regions
of the state in which a federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program waiver under
Code of Federal Regulations, title 7, part 273.24, paragraph (f), is in effect and terminate
waivers in regions that no longer meet the waiver requirements under Code of Federal
Regulations, title 7, part 273.24, paragraph (f).

new text begin (b) Before submitting an application to the United States Department of Agriculture for
a federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program waiver under Code of Federal
Regulations, title 7, part 273.24, paragraph (f), the commissioner of human services shall
receive verification from the commissioner of employment and economic development that
the labor market conditions in the region make the work requirements under Code of Federal
Regulations, title 7, part 273.24, paragraph (a), untenable.
