A bill for an act
relating to public safety; classifying law enforcement agency hold data as private;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 13.87, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 13.87, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin All data pertaining to an individual temporarily being held by
a law enforcement agency are classified as private pursuant to section 13.02, subdivision
12, except the data may be released for criminal justice purposes. A consent for release of
information from an individual pertaining to temporary hold data is not effective.
