A bill for an act
relating to economic development; appropriating money to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for biotechnology and medical
genomics research.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $18,000,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2007 from the general fund to the
commissioner of employment and economic development for the direct and indirect
expenses of the collaborative research partnership between the University of Minnesota
and the Mayo Foundation for research in biotechnology and medical genomics. This is
a onetime appropriation. An annual report on the expenditure of these funds must be
submitted to the governor and the chairs of the senate Higher Education Budget Division;
the house Higher Education Finance Committee; the senate Environment, Agriculture and
Economic Development Budget Division; and the house Jobs and Economic Opportunity
Policy and Finance Committee by June 30 of each fiscal year until the appropriation is
expended. This appropriation is available until expended.
