A bill for an act
relating to transportation; establishing a named highway; identifying segments
of trunk highways in Todd County as the Veterans Memorial Scenic Loop;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 161.14, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 161.14, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin (a) Subject to the requirements
under paragraph (c), the following described route is designated the "Veterans Memorial
Scenic Loop":

new text begin (1) Constitutional Route No. 4, signed as U.S. Highway 71 on the effective date of
this section, from its intersection with Todd County State-Aid Highway 38 in the city of
Long Prairie, to its intersection with Legislative Route No. 287, signed as Trunk Highway
287 on the effective date of this section, in the city of Long Prairie;

new text begin (2) Legislative Route No. 287, signed as Trunk Highway 287 on the effective date of
this section, from its intersection with Constitutional Route No. 4, signed as U.S. Highway
71 on the effective date of this section, in the city of Long Prairie, to its intersection with
Todd County State-Aid Highway 12 in the city of Long Prairie; and

date of this section, from its intersection with Todd County State-Aid Highway 6 to its
terminus in the city of Grey Eagle.

new text begin (b) The commissioner shall adopt a suitable marking design to mark this route and
erect appropriate signs, subject to section 161.139.

new text begin (c) The designation under this subdivision is effective upon establishment by local
road authorities of a continuous designated route connecting all of the segments of trunk
highway specified in paragraph (a) and bearing the same route designation name, as
determined by the commissioner.
