 relating to education; reducing state-generated special education paperwork.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin REDUCING STATE-GENERATED SPECIAL EDUCATION
PAPERWORK.

new text begin Notwithstanding other law to the contrary, each year, in fiscal year 2017 and in
fiscal year 2018, the commissioner of education must use existing budgetary resources to
identify and remove 25 percent of the paperwork burden on Minnesota special education
teachers that results from state but not federally mandated special education compliance
reporting requirements.
