A bill for an act
relating to body art; adding a provision for license by reciprocity; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 146B.03, subdivision 8.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 146B.03, subdivision 8, is amended to read:


Subd. 8.

License by reciprocity.

The commissioner shall issue a technician's license to
a person who holds a current license, certification, or registration from another state if the
commissioner determines that the standards for licensure, certification, or registration in
the other jurisdiction meet or exceed the requirements for licensure stated in this chapter
and a letter is received from that jurisdiction stating that the applicant is in good standing.new text begin
An applicant who applies under this subdivision may satisfy the requirements of subdivision
4, paragraph (b), clauses (4) and (5), by working under a licensed technician who is licensed,
certified, or registered in the technician's home state notwithstanding the fact that the licensed
technician's home state does not meet or exceed the requirements of licensure required in
this chapter.
