A bill for an act
relating to public safety; establishing data classification of private for vehicle
information in orders for protection or no contact orders; amending Minnesota
Statutes 2008, sections 13.871, by adding a subdivision; 299C.46, subdivision 6.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 13.871, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 299C.46, subdivision 6, is amended to read:


Subd. 6.

Orders for protection and no contact orders.

communications network must include orders for protection issued under section 518B.01
and no contact orders issued under section 629.715, subdivision 4. A no contact order must
be accompanied by a photograph of the offender for the purpose of enforcement of the
order, if a photograph is available and verified by the court to be an image of the defendant.

new text begin (b) Data from orders for protection or no contact orders and data entered by law
enforcement to assist in the enforcement of those orders are classified as private data on
individuals as defined in section 13.02, subdivision 12. Data about the offender can be
shared with the victim for purposes of enforcement of the order.
