A bill for an act
relating to health; directing the commissioner of health to study and report on the
use of plastic products by food establishments.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

PRODUCTS.

new text begin The commissioner of health shall study the extent to which Minnesota Rules, chapter
4626, requires or results in the use by food establishments of plastic products, such as plastic
storage containers or single-use plastic wrap, in the preparation, serving, and storage of
food. For purposes of this section, "food" and "food establishment" have the meanings given
them in Minnesota Rules, part 4626.0020. By January 15, 2021, the commissioner shall
submit a report on the results of the study and any recommendations to members of the
legislative committees with jurisdiction over health and the environment and natural
resources.
