  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state employment; shifting social security 
  1.3             administrative duties from the department of employee 
  1.4             relations to the public employees retirement 
  1.5             association; classifying data on employee's dependents 
  1.6             as private; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, sections 
  1.7             13.43, subdivision 4; 355.01, subdivision 5. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 13.43, 
  1.10  subdivision 4, is amended to read: 
  1.11     Subd. 4.  [OTHER DATA.] All other personnel data is private 
  1.12  data on individuals but may be released pursuant to a court 
  1.13  order.  Data pertaining to an employee's dependents are private 
  1.14  data on individuals.  
  1.15     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 355.01, 
  1.16  subdivision 5, is amended to read: 
  1.17     Subd. 5.  The term "state agency" "director" means the 
  1.18  commissioner of employee relations executive director of the 
  1.19  public employees retirement association. 
  1.20     Sec. 3.  [INSTRUCTION TO REVISOR.] 
  1.21     The revisor of statutes shall change the term "state 
  1.22  agency" to "director" in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 355.  The 
  1.23  revisor of statutes shall change the term "commissioner of 
  1.24  employee relations" to "executive director of the public 
  1.25  employees retirement association" in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 
  1.26  355.  The revisor of statutes shall change the term "department 
  2.1   of employee relations" to "public employees retirement 
  2.2   association" in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 355.
