  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to retirement; extending the expiration date 
  1.3             for certain prior service credit purchase 
  1.4             authorizations; amending Minnesota Statutes 2001 
  1.5             Supplement, section 356.55, subdivision 7; Laws 1999, 
  1.6             chapter 222, article 16, section 16. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2001 Supplement, section 
  1.9   356.55, subdivision 7, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 7.  [EXPIRATION OF PURCHASE PAYMENT DETERMINATION 
  1.11  PROCEDURE.] (a) This section expires and is repealed on July 
  1.12  1, 2003 2005. 
  1.13     (b) Authority for any public pension plan to accept a prior 
  1.14  service credit payment calculated in a timely fashion under this 
  1.15  section expires on October 1, 2003 2005. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  Laws 1999, chapter 222, article 16, section 16, is 
  1.17  amended to read: 
  1.18     Sec. 16.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.19     Sections 1 to 13 are repealed on May 16, 2002 2005. 
  1.20     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.21     Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final 
  1.22  enactment.
