A bill for an act
relating to human services; directing the legislative auditor to conduct an audit of
the Department of Human Services; requiring a report; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin DIRECTION TO LEGISLATIVE AUDITOR; DEPARTMENT OF
HUMAN SERVICES.

new text begin The legislative auditor shall conduct or contract with an independent third-party vendor
to conduct a comprehensive program audit and financial audit within the Department of
Human Services. The audit shall be conducted in accordance with generally accepted
government auditing standards issued by the United States Government Accountability
Office. The legislative auditor shall complete the audit no later than July 1, 2021, and shall
report the results of the audit, including suggested program and internal policy changes to
improve integrity and overall agency function, to the chairs and ranking minority members
of the legislative committees with jurisdiction over health and human services finance and
policy by February 1, 2022.

Legislative Coordinating Commission for the legislative auditor to conduct or contract with
an independent third-party vendor to conduct a comprehensive audit of the Department of
