1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to state government; providing for certain funds established in
1.3the constitution to pay for audit costs incurred by the legislative auditor;
1.4appropriating money;proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes,
1.5chapter 3.
1.6BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.7    Section 1. [3.9715] PAYMENT FROM HERITAGE FUNDS FOR AUDIT COSTS.
1.8The outdoor heritage fund, the clean water fund, the parks and trails fund, and the
1.9arts and cultural heritage fund, established in the Minnesota Constitution, article XI,
1.10section 15, must each pay the legislative auditor for costs incurred by the legislative
1.11auditor to examine financial activities related to each fund. The legislative auditor shall
1.12provide cost data to the commissioner of management and budget to determine the amount
1.13of the required payments. The amount required to make these payments is appropriated
1.14from each fund for payments to the legislative auditor under this section. Amounts
1.15received by the legislative auditor under this section are appropriated to the legislative
1.16auditor for purposes of examining financial activities related to each fund. The legislative
1.17auditor shall report by January 15 each year to the chairs and ranking minority members of
1.18the house of representatives and senate funding divisions with jurisdiction over the office
1.19of the legislative auditor and the funds established in the Minnesota Constitution, article
1.20XI, section 15, on past and projected future expenditure of funds under this section.
