  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; authorizing grants for 
  1.3             historical educational programming; appropriating 
  1.4             money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATIONS; HISTORICAL EDUCATIONAL 
  1.7   PROGRAMS.] 
  1.8      (a) $180,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 1999 from the 
  1.9   general fund to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.10  learning for grants to develop and sustain historical 
  1.11  educational programming and curriculum designed primarily for 
  1.12  elementary and secondary school students. 
  1.13     (b) Of the amount appropriated in paragraph (a), $90,000 is 
  1.14  for a grant to Murphy's landing living history village for its 
  1.15  educational programs including education tours, outreach 
  1.16  programs, and immersion camps and $90,000 is for a grant to 
  1.17  Ironworld for its historical education programs. 
  1.18     (c) This appropriation shall be included in the education 
  1.19  base budget estimates for the 2000-2001 biennium. 
  1.20     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.21     Section 1 is effective July 1, 1998.
